Our rhododendron section of the nursery is an eye-catching colorful display of blooms. There is amazing diversity within rhododendrons - from differing heights, leaf shapes, and (obviously) flower color and size.
Rhododendron blooms are one of our favorite signs of early spring. There’s a lot to love about rhododendrons - big and showy flowers, attractive evergreen foliage, and non-aggressive roots that make them easy to plant next to.
For all these reasons (and more), Rhodies make excellent screening plants, too. The show of big blooms is a much nicer view than your neighbor’s windows and is certainly more pleasant than a fence.
Taking care of your Rhododendron:
Rhododendrons like regular, deep watering during spring and summer, especially when planted in sun. When you first plant your rhododendron, mix in some compost with the soil. They will also benefit from a compost mulch over the root zone after planting for extra nutrients and to help retain water in the soil.
